“12 o'clock.” Tom said, eyeing the clock on the wall. It ticked loudly, and the second hand was bent at a twenty-three-degree angle. The room was very clinical; at the door, a plastic, spotted material rolled under the threshold, surrounded by a chrome strip on all sides. Beyond this, a green, smooth, easily cleaned surface, covered in wet floor signs sprawled about the room. Leroy had been violently ill moments before, but Ian, wary of the contagion he may have been carrying, quickly mopped up the black substance into the drain system with a very wet mop.
